Alabama football fans, week three of the NFL has come and gone, and several former Alabama standouts had great games, while some others didn’t get to play due to injuries. Let’s take a look at some of the stats our former Bama studs had this week.

OFFENSE:

Calvin Ridley- 5 REC 110 YRDS

A staple the last few weeks in our Talking NFL, Ridley was the main attraction this week since Julio was out with a hamstring injury, and he led the Falcons in receptions, and kept that Bears secondary at bay. Falcons have a great WR in Julio, and have a great WR in Ridley as well.

Derrick Henry- 26 CAR 119 YRDS 2 TDS

Henry led the Titans to a big win Sunday against the Vikings, with another impressive day. Henry is arguably the best running back in the league, and he is also a reliable QB option out of the backfield. Henry is scheduled to take on the Steelers this Sunday, but the Titans have closed their facilities until Saturday, due to three players testing positive for Covid, so that game looks to be in jeopardy.

DEFENSE:

As we all know, Alabama has some great former standouts on the defensive side of the ball. Let’s look at some of the stats for these guys.

Jonathan Allen- 7 TKLS, 1 ASST, 1 SACK

Daron Payne- 3 TKLS, 2 ASST

Trevon Diggs- 9 TKLS, FF

WEEK THREE MVP’S:

OFFENSIVE: Calvin Ridley

Ridley gets my vote for MVP this week. Yes, I know Henry had a 2 TD performance, and Ridley didn’t post a TD, but without Ridley this week (especially losing Julio to injury) Matt Ryan would have to go to TE Hayden Hurst as the primary got to as a WR, while the Titans have many other playmakers for Jake Tannehill, not saying Henry isn’t a major threat, because he is, but Ridley did it all on his own this week.

DEFENSIVE: Trevon Diggs

In a losing effort, Diggs had a great game. As I mentioned, he led the Cowboys to a team leading 9 tackles, and forced a huge fumble on D.K. Metcalf that would’ve been a TD. He will only continue to grow and get better at the Cornerback position.
