Alabama football fans, week two of the 2020 SEC football season is in full swing. The Crimson Tide’s home opener is against Jimbo Fisher’s Texas A&M football team. The Aggies struggled mightily against Vanderbilt last Saturday. Jimbo’s A&M team struggled as mentioned, but secured a 17-12 win. Fisher will have his guys ready for a showdown in Tuscaloosa Saturday. If you remember last year’s game, the Aggies’ Kellen Mond had a great game in a losing effort, accounting for 294 total yards last year (196 through the air, 98 on the ground). Will the Aggies be able to keep up with the Tide this week? Here’s my three bold predictions in the game Saturday.
BOLD PREDICTION #1: Kellen Mond rushes for less than fifty yards.
Probably my boldest prediction, but Kellen was the only offense the Aggies had against Alabama last year. This is a strange new year, and as you saw in the Missouri game, there’s only one word to describe Alabama’s defense this year; FAST. With a healthy Dylan Moses, stud Sophomore Christian Harris, and Freshman standout Will Anderson, Mond will have problems getting around the corner and into the 2nd level this week.
BOLD PREDICTION #2: Najee rushes for 125 YDS and 2 TD’s
Najee carried the ball 17 times Saturday night, recording 98 yards and 3 TD’s. Last year against this Aggies team, he rushed for 114 yards with no rushing touchdowns, on 20 carries. This offense is different than last year, with Najee sharing carries between Brian Robinson and Trey Sanders, but Najee is a different animal this year, and that O-line is as good as they come. He will have another big game Saturday for the Tide.
BOLD PREDICTION #3: Christian Barmore records 3 TFL’s and 2 sacks.
As first report here by our very own Ricky Green, Christian Barmore returned to practice this week, and I believe he will make an impact in this game early. I believe he will be in Mond’s face most of the game, and if he doesn’t record the sack, at least he’s forced Mond out of the pocket for Moses, Anderson and Harris to swallow him up. As previously mentioned, this defense is fast, and they are also scary good. Having Barmore back on that D-line will be huge for Alabama going forward in the season.
PREDICTION: 45-10 Alabama
