This week on our potential upset pick, there’s a lot of games that could result in upsets. We have one in mind, but I am going to point out a few that has that “watch out” factor. Tennessee better watch out for Missouri, and South Carolina “could” sneak out a win in The Swamp, but the team that should be on upset alert, was a team feature in our very first segment. So let’s get right into it.
OLE MISS UPSETS KENTUCKY
WHY?
The true Bama fan in me last Saturday invested into two different teams named “Wildcats” (Kentucky & Kansas St). One Wildcat team won, and looked impressive the last 10 minutes of their game, the other Wildcat team, was flat all game, and was very disappointing. Kentucky finished 8-5 last year, and had momentum after a come from behind victory against the Hokies in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl in 2019, with a WR as their starting QB after Terry Wilson and his backup both went down with injuries. With Terry Wilson back, they had several key pieces returning, and was believed by many (including myself) of upsetting the Barn in week one. Some could argue the TD that was called short by an inch (next play resulted in a INT) killed all momentum Kentucky had for the remainder of the game. Fast forward to this week, and Kentucky plays a very explosive Ole Miss team. Ole Miss lost last Saturday to Florida 51-35 but the game was much closer than that. A bogus roughing the passer call halted Ole Miss’s momentum (they had a 3rd down stop, and only down 10 at that time) and Florida was gifted a TD a few plays later. If Kentucky allowed average Bo Nix to have a field day, Matt Corral will have one against that secondary. Question is, will Joey Gatewood start over Terry Wilson. I just don’t see that happening.
MATCH UP TO WATCH: Matt Corral vs Kentucky’s secondary
As mentioned above, Bo Nix threw for 2 TD’s and 233 yards against that Wildcat secondary. Matt Corral, playing against arguably the best defense in the SEC East, threw for 395 yards and 3 TD’s. Watch for him to light up the stat sheets Saturday.
PREDICTION: 38-27 Ole Miss
SEASON RECORD: 0-1
