Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide (2-0) takes on former Saban assistant Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss Rebels (1-1) Saturday. Initially set for a 5:30pm kickoff time, due to Hurricane Delta it has been moved back an hour to 6:30pm central. I expect to see good things out of the offense this week, and we will see how the defense will fare against a volatile Lane Kiffin offense. Below I preview some prop bets and give some predictions on how I think this one will turn out.
The Spread: Ole Miss +23
The spread for this game is set to +23 for the home team Rebels. Meaning sportsbooks expect the Tide to win by at least 23 points. This is one of those spreads that I have no problem taking Alabama to cover. Ole Miss has been inconsistent on the defensive side of the ball and let Florida run rampant up and down the field. Expect much of the same from Mac Jones and Co.
My Prediction: Tide covers.
Over/Under: 69 points
Nice. This should be a no-brainer, but I’ve been wrong before. These two offenses together should have no problem getting beyond 69 points. Expect Mac Jones and Najee Harris to carve pumpkins out of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium Saturday.
My Prediction: Over
Mac Jones Passing: 300 yards
I’ve set this one myself, sports books dont usually go this deep into college match-ups, however it’s more of a reflection on how I think it will go. I expect Mac to destroy this Ole Miss defense, they have been allowing it to happen all year and I’m not under the impression that Kyle Trask is any better than Mac Jones.
My Prediction: Over 300 yards passing
Alabama Team Rushing: 185 yards
I feel as if this group will be able to get moving this weekend after a less-than-ideal showing from the trio of backs against TAMU last weekend. Harris and Robinson should be able to get the majority of these fairly easily, but I suspect Trey Sanders will be playing a role in it, as well. Ole Miss has given up an average of 300 yards per game rushing through 2 weeks, that’s not ideal for the Rebs facing this Bama backfield.
My Prediction: Over
Alabama Team Defense: 350 yards
Not much going for the Rebs on the offensive side of the ball, but depending on how deep we get in the depth chart I believe they can gain some yardage on the Tide defense.
My Prediction: Under
Final Score Prediction: Alabama 52 Ole Miss 24
