As the 2021 class for the Alabama football program is getting full, fans are starting to look towards the 2022 class. Today we introduce an in-state 2022 prospect that Tide fans should definitely get to know.
Alabama football fans are some of the most passionate in the country when it comes to recruiting. Focus is just starting to shift to the class of 2022, and Ja’Kobi Albert is a young man that Crimson Tide fans definitely become familiar with.
Standing 6’1 and weighing right at 180 pounds, Ja’Kobi Albert embodies all the physical traits one would look for in an elite level WR/DB. Playing his high school football at Fairfield Preparatory School, Ja’Kobi is starting to garner some serious interest from big time programs. Even though currently unranked by the 247Sports Composite Rankings, this young man is an elite athlete. Ja’Kobi ran a 4.5 forty yard dash as a sophomore in high school, and has a 42 inch vertical to go along with all that speed. Not having this young man ranked is borderline criminal behavior.
Albert already holds an offer from Maryland. One of the offers that Ja’Kobi and his family are looking forward to the most is that coveted offer from Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Last night, I had a chance to catch up with Ja’Kobi, and he was kind enough to answer a few questions to allow the world to better get to know him.
RG- Do you prefer playing offense or defense?
JA- Honestly I don’t have a preference for what side of the ball I want to play on. I just want to produce and help my team win.
RG- Which colleges are you most looking forward to hearing from?
JA- I got my 1st big time offer from Maryland. Honestly right now any of the teams from the SEC, ACC, Big10 , and PAC12. My recruitment is wide open. The reason I say that is because there are schools in those conferences that I have dreamed of hearing from.
RG- What players(college or pro) do you look up to and maybe try to model parts of your game after?
JA- Julio Jones, OBJ, and Henry Ruggs lll.
RG- What is it that you like most about Alabama?
JA- It’s a winning program. They have a very diverse and knowledgeable staff. Alabama also has a great academic history and are know for preparing players for post-college careers.
RG- I know you have a really close relationship with Ian Jackson, so does Ian get in your ear a little about Alabama?
JA- Most definitely! We really wanted to play with each other in high school, so us getting to play in college together would be exceptional if I were to get an offer from the University of Alabama.
RG- What do you think are your greatest strengths both as a receiver and as a defensive back?
JA- At defensive back it’s my ability to make open-field tackles and my play recognition. As a receiver I feel like my strengths are quickness, speed, and my ability to track the ball down in the air.
As you can tell from the interview above, Ja’Kobi Albert is an extremely intelligent young man, as well as being an elite level athlete. We here at Tide Talk Sports have been fortunate enough to know about Ja’Kobi Albert before he blows up on the national scene. We suggest Alabama football fans get to know Ja’Kobi and his wonderful military family as well.
