ALABAMA FOOTBALL: TIME TO PUT UP OR SHUT UP

by jakethomastide

Tonight is the night all Alabama fans have been waiting for since The Citrus Bowl against Michigan last year: Alabama again, is back in the National Championship. During this Covid stricken season, Alabama endured a 10 game SEC season, completely dominating their opponents. How bad you ask? Example: Texas A&M, who finished the season at #5, just one spot away from being in the College Football Playoff, lost 52-24 to Alabama. The #5 team, lost to Alabama by 28, let that sink in. Alabama has been on a revenge tour all season, and have already marked off LSU and Auburn off that list, all that’s left is Clemson, and counterpart in tonight’s game, Ohio State. It’s time, as the title says, to put up and shut up. I want to breakdown a few things I expect to see tonight.

#1 Expect a lot of Jahleel Billingsley

We have raved so much on here about the young talented Freshman we have especially on the defensive side of the ball, but we have seen the emergence of Sophmore standout Jaleel Billingsley. Billingsley is set to have a big night tonight. With so much focus being on Devonta Smith, we’ve seen defenses completely forget about Billingsley, who has been left wide open for some easy TD’s (LSU & Notre Dame). Now, if Waddle plays tonight, Ohio State has to game plan to potentially plan for four great wide outs (Smitty, Waddle, Metchie and Billingsley) someone is going to be seeing the ball a lot, and this is the game I believe Billingsley has a breakout game.

#2 Nasty & Gritty Defense

Now, I would never call this defense soft, but we all know this defense has had some rough patches this year. Mostly though, this defense has been a “bend but don’t break” defense. Yes, that will still be the case tonight, but this team also knows it has an injured QB in their sights as well. Much like in the animal kingdom, they will be the Lion stalking their prey.

Staff Predictions:

Stacey: 42-30 Bama

Jake: 48-24 Bama

Ricky: 42-24 Bama

Cory: 42-31 Bama

Layne: 45-38 Bama

Hunter: 69-0 Bama
