Alabama Baseball: Opening Weekend has arrived

by Stacey Blackwood

After the 2020 season was cut short due to COVID-19 the Alabama Baseball team looks to continue last years hot start in 2021.

The Alabama Baseball team will host McNeese State for the opening weekend of the 2021 season. There is plenty to be excited about when you look at this year’s roster. With a lineup that will consist of Sam Praytor, Drew Williamson, T.J. Reeves, and Owen Diodati driving in runs should not be a problem for the Tide.

Then you take a look at the pitchers that fourth-year head coach Brad Bohannon will send to the mound and you realize that this roster is starting to look more and more like an SEC roster.

Connor Prielipp will be the Opening Day starter for the Tide and I am not sure you could have scripted a better start to his freshman season last year. Prielipp finished the COVID shortened season with a 3-0 record, 0.00 ERA, 21 IP, 35 K’s, and 6 BB. Connor is a preseason first-team All-American. Antoine Jean and Dylan Smith will round out the starting rotation. The pitching staff also includes a tremendous closer in Chase Lee, who had 19 K’s in only 11 innings worked in the 2020 season.
