Landon Dickerson transferred to Alabama right before fall camp in 2019 from Florida State, and was announced as starter at Right Guard for the 2019 season. He eventually became the Center, and not did he solidify the offensive line, but he also stole the hearts of the Alabama faithful as well.
Landon was no doubt the heart and soul of the team this year, and he won the team and fans over by not only his on field antics, but his play as well. I don’t remember many, if any, defenders getting past Landon this past year. But the first tear jerking moment from Landon came in the SEC Championship game, when a Florida player took a cheap shot at Landon’s knee, and tore his ACL. Before they took him off by a cart to the back, everyone on the sideline went and gave him a high-five or hugged him, then he gave the thumbs up to the Bama faithful in the building. Then, the last few minutes of the game, he was still on the cart but had them bring him back to watch the team pull out a victory to make its way to the College Football playoffs.
After Alabama took care of Notre Dame, they were playing Ohio State in the National Championship game, Landon Dickerson suited up, full pads, warmed up before the game with the team, 5 days removed from ACL surgery. He was the only captain who took the coin toss for Bama, and the second tear jerking moment was when Landon asked Saban to go out in the victory formation for the last two snaps of the game.
Landon, Alabama will always be apart of you forever, we will never forget all you’ve done for the University and definitely will not forget the story behind your truck front bumper. Thank you for being a great ambassador for the University and go kill it in the NFL.
